Warriors All-Stars vốn là tựa game hành động quy tụ đầy đủ các nam, nữ nhân vật chính trong các series game của Koei Tecmo, lần lượt bao gồm Triệu Vân trong Dynasty Warriors, Kasumi trong Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, nữ nhân vật Horo từ Toukiden, hay cô nàng Sophie xinh xắn từ series Atelier... bên cạnh rất nhiều nhân vật khác
Về hệ thống chiến đấu, Warriors All-Stars giới thiệu đến người chơi phong cách đánh "hack'n smash" cực quen thuộc, vốn đã tạo nên thành công trước đó cho series Dynasty Warriors.
Dễ thấy, mặc dù quân lính trong trận đấu có thể lên đến hàng nghìn tên, nhưng chỉ cần 1 chiến tướng duy nhất thì người chơi có thể dễ dàng quét sạch tất cả đám quân lính bù nhìn này. Có lẽ, mục tiêu khó nhất của người chơi trong trận đấu chỉ là cố gắng để hạ gục tướng địch mà thôi.
Ngoài ra, Warriors All-Stars cũng giới thiệu thêm chế độ chơi công thành, chiếm đất quen thuộc như trong Dynasty Warriors. Đóng vai một vị quân chủ, người chơi sẽ từng bước sai khiến các chiến tướng của mình từng bước mở rộng lãnh thổ, xâm chiếm đất đai xung quanh để phát triển.
Trong lúc tấn công các vùng đất khác, người chơi sẽ có thể điều khiển, sai khiến các chiến tướng của mình tự động điều khiển binh linh đi tấn công các thành trì khác, hay chỉ là đơn giản đem quân đến bảo vệ các vùng đất mà mình đã chiếm được trước sự tấn công của kẻ thù.
Lối chơi phát triển, chiến thuật này phần nào giúp cho Warriors All-Stars thoát khỏi lối chơi chặt chém có phần khá đơn điệu như nhiều tựa game Dynasty Warriors.
